Crowdfunding
Keeping donations flowing when a campaign goes viral
The problem
A fundraising platform where a single campaign can jump from quiet to a flood of donors overnight, and no payment can be lost or charged twice.
What we did
Hardened the donation and payment flows, reconciled them against the payment gateway, and made the platform hold up under sudden spikes in traffic.
Insurtech
Getting insurance to smallholder farmers
The problem
Enrolling and serving very large numbers of farmers through partners, often in places with patchy connectivity.
What we did
Built systems for partner-led enrolment, data-driven claims and payouts to mobile money, designed around low-bandwidth realities.
Distributed delivery
Shipping inside international product teams
The problem
Product companies abroad needed senior engineers who could slot into their teams and deliver across time zones from day one.

Worked embedded in their teams, owning features end to end and following their standards, reviews and release processes.
Modernisation
Replacing a core system without stopping the business

An ageing platform the whole operation depended on, too risky to simply switch off.

Rebuilt it alongside the old system, ran both in parallel and reconciled the outputs until they matched, then cut over in stages.

Built a single integration layer with validation, retries and reconciliation, so problems surfaced before customers noticed them.
Off-grid energy
Pay-as-you-go financing for off-grid energy
The problem
Distributors selling solar kits and appliances on credit to customers who pay in small instalments by mobile money, where each device must switch on or off as payments arrive.
What we did
Worked on a PAYGo platform linking mobile money payments to device activation, alongside contract management and field-operations tools used by distributors in many markets.
